The first recorded accounts of the mythical civilization appear in Plato's dialogues, describing the island as a naval superpower of 9400 BC. According to Plato, Atlantis attempted to invade Athens; when the battle was lost, the island nation was swallowed by the ocean.

The mystery of the lost civilization has never been solved, but many tales of its discovery have been told in the movies, in literature, in comic books and now, through circus arts. Atlanticus weaves the mythological aspects of Atlantis with thrilling acrobatics and witty physical humor, following adventurers Henry and Rufus as they race against time and ruthless opponents to be the first to claim the mystical Lapis Lazuli orb, which grants its possessor the power to rule the earth.

The explorers' almost-accidental discovery of Atlantis sets off a chain of events that will affect life both below and above the sea, as Poseidon and all the citizens of Atlantis battle against invaders with noble and not-so-noble intentions. With feuding octopi and Kraken, beautiful goddesses, mermaids and jellyfish, and spectacular unexpected twists of fate, Atlanticus promises a spectacle that takes circus arts to new heights-and depths.
